After a good start to the day attacking my todo list it was time to get going as and don’t be too shockeded, my doctor called me the afternoon before !!! I’d recently had a blood test and it was results time. And I was offered a flu and COVID jab no I’m not over 70 or whatever the current age group being called in. Because of my situation I get called early there aren’t many benefits to being half paralysed but getting jabbed early in one of them. If being jabbed early is a benefit.

Oh yes. The other pertinent point here is the nerve pathway damage that is yet to repair itself includes paertial numbness pretty much all down my left side.

Quick aside. You know you’ve had a long day if you started before farming today and you’re still going strong. Relatively speaking, when sailing by and the national anthem come on your smart speaker as you are typing your second blog post of the day.I’ve got a zoom meeting at 09:00 so I should probably put my tablet away soon.

Before I go though. The lack of feeling is accompanied by quite limited motor control I think it’s called. How much ? I can only just move my left arm and leg and not with any precision. because of my limited physical capabilities I have to rely on other people to do things for me that in my pre stroke days I could have done easily easily. DIY for example .

This was indicated no more clearly when the only A I got in what were called O levels at the time, now GCSEs was in woodwork. Something that’s in my genes. One of my great grandfathers was a cabinet maker and joiner and I’m extremely grateful that I did inherit those skills as the extensive DIY Projects I/we undertook over the years enabled us, Julie and I, to live in houses that we got the most out of and that just reminded me that we did some big projects and regularly would find a project to start in the gap between Christmas and new year.

One memorable year after we had moved to Midsomer Norton there Was a curved arch access between the lounge and the sitting room and it limited the light reaching from one room to the other and so the morning after the in-laws Boxing Day evening party one of those lovely traditions. Some how. We came up with the plan to’quickly pop that arch down and see if it’s better. Plan of attack. Peel off wallpaper and see what we find. A wooden frame covered with hardboard was the answer and that didn’t stand a chance. A lump hammer is extremely useful in these situations. As the structure quickly succumbed and thank goodness most of my memories were left intact. Presumably they weren’t in the walnut sized dead area within my brain. As one particular part of the arch came away, a few handfuls of vermiculite insulation cascaded like extremely itchy dense warm snow.

Back to today. One of the people who are there for me when I need things like hooks put up and wheelchair armrest extensions repaired is my good friend Cxxxn and as you can see I’m yet to get a reply to my request to use his first name in my blog. I have checked with Julie and as you can see the answer was In the affirmative. That’s a sort of quote but I can’t remember where from, so by all means comment if you know. Right. Sleep time I think
